Law Abiding Citizen

I was recommended this movie by a friend and he didn’t let me down. A real surpise hit movie. It’s a little like the TV show Dexter, you end up rooting for the bad guy!

Plot

The plot focuses on a man who, ten years after his wife and daughter are brutally murdered, returns to extract justice from the assistant district attorney who prosecuted the case against their killers. His vengeance threatens not only the man who allowed mercy to supersede justice, but also the system and the city that made it so.

AVATAR

OK yes I went to see it and overall I really liked it. I can see why the budget was large and why James Cameron held off making it till today’s CGI was up to the task. The storyline was a little predictable and plays on the current eco challenges of today.

The visial effects are stunning. Viewing a movie in 3D is going to become a lot more common I would think as this movie really raises the bar. It really is a case of a video game on the big screen.

Aussie Sam Worthington’s first big international release is a good one (he shot this before Terminator 4). He plays the lead character, a disabled ex marine who uses an alien body know as an Avatar.

Colonel Quaritch was by far and away my favourite character of the movie. Stephan Lang plays the roll to a tea. His character leads the mercenary contingent protecting human economic interests on the moon of Pandora.

One couldn’t help find a few striking similarities to Sarge from Quake III Arena however :)

Rating: 8.9/10

The game is being released at the same time.

Summer is here

And that means the days are getting longer. This photo was taken just before 8pm and there is still quite a lot of light left in the day.

Looking forward to the next few months (perhaps not the 40-degree weather) but this time of year provides ample opportunities to get out well after most people have finished work for the day.

Nikon Next-Gen Rumors: D4 and D800

Posted in Camera talk on December 2nd, 2009 by admin

Finally some possible real news about Nikons product line up for 2010. I have been holding off buying a new body for some time now as I was keen to see how this would pan out. Hopefully at least some of it is true.
