Pro Street Camaro

Wow what a tough looking car Steve owns here. It’s hard to fault this piece of machinery. Powered by a 540 BBC, it just screams status.

Look out for the upcoming feature in Extreme Street Magazine.

I think the colours in the background work perfectly in this photo.

Simon’s V6 powered Holden wagon has been around for years but surprisingly had never been photographed – Xtreme Holdens Magazine

The water on the ground kinda spoils this shot….

CHARGN

Posted in Cars on June 25th, 2009 by admin

Here’s a few jobs I’ve done recently.

It’s not often you see a really quick Charger. John’s big Val has gone 11.3 at 135mph over the quarter from memory. This car will be coming out in Chrysler Action magazine.

The flashes blew out on this photo, I had them set a little too high.

You want me to trash your lights?

Saw the new Terminator Salvation (T4) movie a few weeks ago.

Arnie in T1

A lot of people were saying it would be no good without Arnie, well I disagreed. I thought it was good to see this franchise move in a new direction. Yes it’s very different to the masterpeice that is T2. When T3 was released it had a lot to live up to and honestly got cained a lot by critics but I awlays liked the movie apart from the weak casting of Nick Stahl as John Connor.

Christian Bale plays a good role as Connor, but does sounds a little too much like ‘Batman’ at times.

In short this is a good movie but it lacks severity squarely due to the PG rating it cairres: there’s not a single drop of blood in this movie. Terminators shooting people with gatling syle guns with basically no gore just makes them a whole lot less indimidating. If you’ve seen Rambo you’d know what I mean.

T600

This movie introduced us to some new models of terminators including the much taller T600 model as well as the more human like T700 units.

One thing made immediately noticable was the severe lack of of colour the movie had. Very industrial, I had heard they shot it on a silver based film to achieve that. The scenes are very washed out and I guess it’s a good way to achive a feeling of hoplessness. And the sound – easily the best I’ve heard in a long time, I made it a point to see it in a dedicated THX cinema and it didn’t dissapoint. There was a constant low frequency bass line: gives it the doomsday death angle feel. The CGI is also very very good.

There was even a bit of a “real men don’t look at explosions” Hollywood moment :P

You can tell there’s obviously another movie coming from the ending, but I hope there is an M or R rating like the first chapter but in saying how much money revolves around merchandising rights these days I highy doubt that will be the case.

Star Trek

Posted in TV & movies on June 9th, 2009 by admin

I’ve always liked the Star Trek franchise, seeing every series ever produced so it was of interest when I heard they were making this new movie. I didn’t get too excited as I didn’t know what to expect.

Well I have to say I was impressed with the outcome. The story line could have been a touch better but I thought it was quite good overall. You can tell they are using this one to setup another movie 100%. The movie gives you a bit of background into James T Kirk however, the characters are pretty good but the whole trademark ‘bad boy womaniser’ angle of Kirk is a touch overplayed at times.

Kirk is either hitting on chicks or getting punched out for the majority of the film lol. Ahura on the other hand – wow what a hottie!

Chekov (on the left) is also playing Kyle Reese in the new Terminator flick.

This movie is not a ‘trekkie’ movie at all, it’s nothing like the old ones but does get many ideas from them.

In short the CGI is fkn unreal, the ships even look like the 1960’s versions that look like they’re made from balsa wood :P

Here’s a few of my preferred photos from the day.

GMVPSS super sedan

A very well built machine is Darren’s 9-second drag Commodore. The car is powered by a COME Racing 383 small block Holdene engine.

IMS time attack Supra

Posted in Cars on June 9th, 2009 by admin

John’s Toyota Supra would have to be one of the quickest time attack style cars in Victoria. Lapping easily under 1:30 around Winton Raceway, the car has undergone further changes. The 3.4L 2JZ stroker makes 440kW to the wheels on pump fuel and is about to switch to E85. Power is fed through a Holligner 6spd sequential gearbox.

Big block Challenger

I’ve photographed Chris’ Dodge Challenger before so was happy to give it another crack when asked to cover it for another magazine. Powered by a 605ci all alloy Indy motor, this is one heck of a weekend cruiser. The under-carriage is completely detailed as well.

BYEBY8 GT4 Celica

Posted in Cars on June 9th, 2009 by admin

Stephen’s GT4 Celica is a bit of a rare find. The all-wheel drive Celica’s were developed for the Group A Rally program in the late 1980′s. This one is a touch different, the factory 3S-GTE engine is now outputting a lot more power – 280kW to all four to be pricise. So far the red machine has clicked off a quick 12.10 at 119mph quarter mile pass.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently!

Here’s a few of my favourite pics from the day.

AWD Proton Satria

Posted in Workshop news on June 9th, 2009 by admin

Spotted this cool ride at a workshop recently. Milan’s Proton Satria GTi carruies an all-wheel drive conversion and is powered by a now turbocahrged 4G93 (1.8L) engine. The guys are looking to run very quick hence why an auto gearbox is now also installed. Keep an eye out for this one at the drags.

Off road build-up at JPC

Well known off-road specialist Johnsons Performance Centre has yet another build up on the way. Here’s a few earlier pics of the Nissan Patrol 4.2L turbo.
